Year-round, Kirkwall:

The Museum tells the story of Orkney throughout the ages from the Stone Age. In addition to its significantly important permanent collections, the museum regularly holds temporary exhibitions. For three centuries, the building housing the museum used to be home to the Baikie family of Tankerness. Today, visitors to Tankerness House can still see how the house looked when it was a family home.
