Year-round, Isle of Coll:

With its long, white shell sand beaches, sand dunes and machair grassland, the RSPB reserve at Coll is a stronghold for the rare corncrake. Other breeding birds on the reserve include redshanks, lapwings and snipe. In the winter, large numbers of barnacle and Greenland white-fronted geese use the site. Even the trip across to Coll from t ; he Sound of Mull is an experience, offering visitors a possibility to get very close to diving Gannets and Auks, and see Shearwaters, Petrols and even White-tailed Sea Eagles. If you’re visiting with children, borrowing a free Explorer backpack will guarantee them a great day out! They’re available from Totronald Stables Visitor Information Centre and contain bug jars, binoculars and guide books to help children get the most out of their visit.
