Situated in Loch Duich near Dornie, about 8 miles from Kyle of Lochalsh, Eilean Donan Castle is one of Scotland’s moct iconic images. The castle dates back to the early 13th century. It was destroyed in 1719 whilst acting as a garrison for Spanish troops fighting for the Jacobite cause. The castle was restored in the years between 1919 and 1932 by Lt Col John MacRae-Gilstrap.
