April - October, Montrose:
Overlooking the Montrose Basin Nature Reserve, this beautiful Georgian house was designed by William Adam and completed in 1730 for David Erskine, the 13th Laird of Dun. The house contains collections of 18th and 19th century furniture, porcelain and portraits. Lady Augusta FitzClarence, the daughter of William IV and the actress Mrs Dorothy Jordan, once lived here and collected the many royal mementoes now on display. The estate comprises Lady Augusta’s Walk, an adventure playground, a Victorian walled garden, terraced gardens, a woodland walk and farmland. The House is open April to October (check for specific times). The gardens and estate are open daily, all year, 9 until dusk.
