Although largely industrial and developed, this part of Fife still has many visitor attractions. The ancient royal burgh of Kirkcaldy (pronounced kir-coddy) is the largest of a string of historic coastal settlements East of the Forth bridges. Every April, its four-mile-long esplanade is taken over by the historic Links Market, a busy, week-long funfair dating back to 1305. Plenty of golf here too. Located on the sweeping sandy Largo Bay, Leven is surrounded by some 40 golf courses set in picturesque countryside. Situated on the Fife Coastal Path, it’s also an ideal attraction for walkers.
