Traditional Scottish music

Scottish traditional music is very much alive and well in Scotland. Apart from the sound of the bagpipes, which have been played in the Highlands and Islands since the fifteenth century, older forms of music such as harp playing are enjoying a revival. Ballads and laments are popular, sung by a lone singer with backing, or played on traditional instruments such as the harp, fiddle, accordion or bagpipes.
