Cycling and mountain biking in Scotland - what’s on

If you haven’t been mountain biking in Scotland before, you’ve been missing a treat. Scotland was voted a Global Superstar by the IMBA in 2005 for its outstanding mountain biking, from the rolling hills of the Borders to the rugged landscapes of the Highlands. The country has the largest continuous area of high ground in Britain, with more than 700 mountains over 2,000 feet, along with fantastic mountain bike centres like the 7stanes, Leanachan Forest, and Laggan WolfTrax.

TweedLove is a two-week festival of bike-riding and good times in the cycle-friendly Tweed Valley, an area with hundreds of miles of the country’s best trails, tracks and roads.

12th - 14th June 2015, Cairngorms:

The ROCK&ROAD bike festival brings a feast of bike events for mountain bikers, roadies, novices and families alike.

20th June 2015, Highlands:

Cross country mountain bike endurance - run on an endurance format with teams and individuals competing to see who can complete the most laps of the 10-mile course in 10 hours.

29th August 2015, Isle of Skye:

The Skye Mor and Skye Beag, will take riders around the wild and beautiful Trotternish Peninsula right at the Northern tip of Skye.

5th September 2015, Northern Highlands:

Bealach is the UK’s biggest road climb at 2053ft (626m) from sea level in just 6mls (10k).

6th September 2015, Glasgow/Edinburgh:

The freshnlo Pedal for Scotland ride will see thousands of cyclists from all over the UK and beyond getting on their bikes.

19th September 2015, Highlands:

Two distances, both set amidst the some of the best scenery Scotland has to offer.
